Ceramics

Clay can be pressed, carved, joined, collapsed, rebuilt, and transformed into something that could not exist without the hands shaping it.

Ceramics taught me to work with uncertainty. Moisture, construction, glaze, and heat each influence the outcome, and even after a piece leaves my hands, the kiln continues making decisions of its own.

I am drawn to the evidence this process leaves behind—fingerprints, tool marks, uneven edges, and surface variations that reveal how an object was made. Rather than hiding those traces, I see them as part of the piece’s history.

Many of these ceramics were later featured in Made. by Lia – Everyday Craft Baking, where they helped hold, serve, and shape the presentation of Lia’s recipes. Seeing them move from the studio into the cookbook connected ceramics with food, photography, design, and our larger creative collaboration.

This collection brings together work shaped through patience, experimentation, and discovery, balancing personal intention with the unpredictable nature of clay and fire.
