Raised with Care. Served Like Family.

Pierce Creek

Pierce Creek begins long before a meal reaches the table. Its story is rooted in Pierce Creek Cattle Company, a fourth-generation family farm in Lonedell, Missouri, where Kent Evans and Rachelle L’Ecuyer raise cattle with a focus on healthy pastures, responsible land stewardship, and respect for the animals in their care. Their beef is pasture-raised without added hormones or unnecessary antibiotics, reflecting a larger belief that better food begins with knowing where it comes from and how it was raised.

That philosophy first reached customers through The MOObile food truck before growing into a permanent home in Creve Coeur. While the building was still being prepared, the truck served food outside and offered an early glimpse of what Kent and Rachelle imagined for the space. Pierce Creek eventually developed into a restaurant, bar, butcher shop, bakery, deli, and market—bringing the farm, kitchen, and local food community together beneath one roof.

Its mission is to serve food that is as local as possible. Alongside beef from the family farm, Pierce Creek works with regional farmers, producers, and makers who share its commitment to ethical practices, quality ingredients, and honest food. Customers can gather for breakfast, lunch, happy hour, and dinner; choose something fresh from the bakery; take home meat from the butcher shop; or discover locally sourced produce and goods in the market.

What makes Pierce Creek special, however, extends beyond the quality of the food. Kent and Rachelle have created the kind of place where customers are welcomed personally, conversations continue beyond the table, and regulars quickly begin to feel like friends. In less than a year, I watched the space across the street from my home grow from a food truck serving burgers outside into a lively neighborhood destination filled throughout the day. It feels polished without losing its warmth, grounded in the farm while remaining deeply connected to the people it serves.

Pierce Creek is farm-to-table in its most genuine form: food raised with care, prepared with intention, and shared in a place that feels like home.

Some places serve a meal. Others make you feel like you belong.

My Connection

My relationship with Pierce Creek began as a neighbor and customer. During the early months, Grace and I walked across the street, ordered a couple of unforgettable burgers from The MOObile, and ate inside the building while it was still taking shape. Kent and Rachelle sat with us and shared everything they hoped the space would become—the restaurant, bakery, butcher shop, market, and gathering place they were working to build.

That first conversation became the beginning of a friendship. Over time, Kent and Rachelle have come to feel like family, just as they have for many of the people who regularly walk through their doors. Their generosity, openness, and genuine care for their customers are present in every part of Pierce Creek, and having that personal connection has allowed me to document the business with an understanding that reaches beyond the food itself.

My photography has followed Pierce Creek through several defining stages, including its soft opening, grand opening, growing lunch service, expanding bakery, and the development of its butcher shop and market. I have created photographs of the people and energy surrounding the openings, finished menu items, baked goods, retail displays, packaged products, and the food filling its freezer cases. I have also captured motion footage that will eventually bring those same experiences to life through film.

The goal throughout this work has been to preserve both the exceptional quality of what Pierce Creek makes and the feeling that surrounds it—the trust of knowing where the food came from, the care behind its preparation, and the warmth of being served by people who genuinely want you to feel at home.
