2024

By 2024, ideas Muhammad had been developing across several years were beginning to reveal how closely connected they had always been. His music, mentorship, studio, community programs, and commitment to St. Louis were no longer moving along separate paths. Together, they formed a much larger body of work.

One of the year’s defining moments was the release of BEGREATFOOL. The album brought together music Muhammad had been building across different periods of his life, including the GREAT EP we had created artwork for in 2021. Watching the larger project finally arrive gave those earlier photographs new meaning. What once felt like the complete world of one EP had actually been preserving the beginning of something still unfolding.

At the same time, Muhammad continued building spaces where other artists could develop their own work. Open Aux created an environment for people to share unfinished music, receive honest feedback, connect with collaborators, and experience the vulnerability of allowing others into the creative process before everything felt complete.

MVSTERCAMP also continued growing through educational programs, performances, mentorship, and community gatherings. I documented Muhammad not only as the person leading these spaces, but as someone constantly listening—asking questions, offering perspective, making introductions, and helping artists recognize possibilities within their own ideas.

The photographs from this year move between those different roles. They preserve Muhammad as a performing artist, creative director, mentor, organizer, husband, father, and friend. Some images document visible milestones, while others show the quieter work required to sustain everything surrounding them.

Looking back, 2024 was a year when the larger picture became easier to see. The music and the mission had never truly been separate. Both were expressions of the same belief that becoming great means creating room for other people to grow beside you.
