A Voice That Brings St. Louis Together.

A Voice That Brings St. Louis Together.

Alex Rich

Alex Rich is a St. Louis musician, radio personality, host, and community connector whose work moves naturally between entertainment and service. Whether he is performing live, contributing his voice and creativity at Y98, writing music, hosting conversations, or introducing people who should know one another, Alex has built his life around connection. The different hats he wears may change, but the purpose behind them remains consistent: using his platform to create energy, opportunity, and a greater sense of community around the city he loves.

Music has long been one of the clearest expressions of that purpose. At Y98, Alex became known for recurring segments including 10 Minute Tune and Rich’s Remix, which challenged him to quickly write and perform original songs inspired by topics selected by listeners. He has also performed throughout St. Louis and created the original “Bucket List Anthem” for the STL Bucket List Show, where he spoke about philanthropy, positive energy, and using his voice for the greater good of the city.

That commitment to connection also extends into his work as a host. Alongside chef and restaurateur Ben Poremba, Alex created and co-hosts Jews in the Lou, a community-driven series built around candid conversations with St. Louis artists, entrepreneurs, spiritual leaders, business owners, and changemakers. The project uses storytelling to explore identity and culture while revealing the many relationships that connect people throughout the city.

I met Alex through one of my best friends, Caleb Rosen, who is also his cousin. What began as a connection through a mutual friend quickly grew into a relationship that feels much closer to brotherhood. Over the years, I have been fortunate to photograph not only Alex’s creative life, but some of his most meaningful personal chapters—including his wedding to Annie.

Alex has also played an important role in my own growth as a creative. He has invited me into incredible rooms, introduced me to remarkable people, recommended my work to St. Louis companies and organizations, and consistently created opportunities for my photography to reach audiences it may not have reached otherwise. He has never treated community as a slogan; he actively brings people together and uses the relationships he has built to help others move forward.

That generosity is part of what makes Alex so meaningful to photograph. His public presence is full of humor, music, confidence, and unmistakable energy, but beneath it is someone who pays attention to people and genuinely wants them to succeed. These photographs preserve the many sides of a person who has become another brother to me—an entertainer, connector, husband, friend, and enduring voice for St. Louis.

Some people use their voice to be heard. Alex uses his to make room for others.
