Bootcamp

The original MVSTERCAMP experience began in 2022 as a free, immersive artist-development program built to help musicians strengthen the skills surrounding a successful live career. Through interactive workshops, rehearsals, professional guidance, and collaborative learning, participating artists received access to the tools, knowledge, and community needed to approach their work with greater confidence and intention.

The program addressed the realities that artists often have to learn through experience: preparing for soundcheck, communicating with venues, creating performance-ready tracks, developing stage presence, building physical stamina, marketing independently, and representing themselves professionally. Dedicated rehearsal time and mentorship allowed artists to immediately apply what they were learning, while opportunities connected to Music at the Intersection gave them a larger stage on which to demonstrate that growth.

Across multiple years, I documented the full rhythm of the Bootcamp—from concentrated classroom discussions and performance workshops to rehearsals, portraits, candid connections, and the moments when artists finally stepped onto the stage. My goal was to preserve more than the structure of the program. I wanted to capture the transformation that happens when artists are given room to sharpen their craft, learn from one another, and recognize the possibilities available to them.

Together, these photographs and films form an evolving archive of musicians building confidence, community, and greater ownership over the careers they are creating.
