Music at the Intersection
Music at the Intersection became the place where much of MVSTERCAMP’s preparation turned into public performance. After workshops, rehearsals, coaching, and conversations about the realities of live music, participating artists were given the opportunity to apply what they had learned in front of a festival audience. MVSTERCAMP’s programming intentionally connected artist development with performance preparation, including dedicated rehearsal time and opportunities to appear at the St. Louis festival.
The experience was about more than simply booking another show. It gave emerging artists a larger platform on which to strengthen their stage presence, test their preparation, connect with new audiences, and see themselves as part of the wider St. Louis music community. The performances reflected the larger purpose of MVSTERCAMP: creating pathways that move artists from learning and experimentation toward meaningful professional opportunities.
My work followed that journey from preparation to performance. Through photography and film, I documented rehearsals, backstage moments, artist portraits, crowd reactions, live sets, and the energy surrounding the MVSTERCAMP stage. The goal was not only to capture who performed, but to preserve what it felt like to watch artists step into an opportunity they had spent time preparing to meet.
Together, these images document the moment development became visibility—the classroom opening into the stage and the work behind the scenes becoming something an audience could finally experience.
