MIDI: A Live Beats Demonstration

Music production often happens privately—inside bedrooms, studios, headphones, and computer screens. MIDI brings that process into the open, creating a live experience where audiences can witness how producers shape samples, rhythms, textures, and ideas into finished music.

Through live beat demonstrations, listening sessions, producer performances, conversations, and interactive art activities, MIDI invites the audience into the creative process rather than presenting only the final result. The series treats production as both a technical craft and a performance art, giving beatmakers space to explain their decisions, respond in real time, and reveal the experimentation behind the music.

My work documents the exchange between the producers and the people experiencing the music—the concentration behind the equipment, the energy of a live demonstration, the audience reactions, and the moments when a sound begins to transform into something shared. Through photography and film, I aim to preserve both the performance and the process that makes MIDI distinct.

Together, this collection celebrates the producers whose work often begins behind the scenes while giving their creativity, technique, and influence a place at the center of the experience.
